Phase Mixing of Nonlinear Plasma Oscillations in an Arbitrary Mass Ratio Cold Plasma
نویسندگان
چکیده
Nonlinear plasma oscillations in an arbitrary mass ratio cold plasma have been studied using 1-D particle-in-cell simulation. In contrast to earlier work for infinitely massive ion plasmas it has been found that the oscillations phase mix away at any amplitude and that the rate at which phase mixing occurs, depends on the mass ratio ( ∆ = m−/m+ ) and the amplitude. A perturbation theoretic calculation carried upto third order predicts that the normalized phase mixing time ωp−tmix depends on the amplitude A and the mass ratio ∆ as ∼ [(A2/24)(∆/ √ 1 + ∆)]−1/3. We have confirmed this scaling in our simulations and conclude that stable non-linear oscillations which never phase mix, exist only for the ideal case with ∆ = 0.0 and A < 0.5. These cold plasma results may have direct relevance to recent experiments on superintense laser beam plasma interactions with applications to particle acceleration, fast ignitor concept etc. PACS number(s): 52.35.Mw, 52.65.Rr Typeset using REVTEX

Linear and Nonlinear Dust Acoustic Waves in Quantum Dusty Electron-Positron-Ion Plasma
The behavior of linear and nonlinear dust acoustic waves (DAWs) in an unmagnetized plasma including inertialess electrons and positrons, ions, and mobile positive/negative dust grains are studied. Reductive perturbation method is employed for small and finite amplitude DAWs. To investigate the solitary waves, the Korteweg–de Vries (KdV) equation is derived and the solution is presented. B...
متن کاملStability of one-dimensional relativistic laser plasma envelope solitons
Stability of one dimensional relativistic laser plasma envelope solitons formed by the nonlinear coupling of relativistically intense electromagnetic waves with plasma waves in a cold plasma to has been examined using fluid simulations. It is observed that the solutions for which scalar potential is weaker than the vector potential are stable whereas solutions with comparatively much higher sca...
متن کاملKinetic Model Study of Dry Reforming of Methane Using Cold Plasma
ABSTRACT In this work, the dry reforming of methane was studied using a corona and glow discharge plasma microreactors. A chemical kinetic model was developed to understand the reaction better. The modelization allowed prediction of the reactants conversion according to the energy transfer to the gas (P×τ). The β value is trait of the energy cost, whatever this value was leeser indicated ...

One of the interesting Laser-Plasma phenomena, when the laser power is high and ultra intense, is the generation of large amplitude plasma waves (Wakefield) and electron acceleration. An intense electromagnetic laser pulse can create plasma oscillations through the action of the nonlinear pondermotive force. electrons trapped in the wake can be accelerated to high energies, more than 1 TW. Of t...
متن کاملDetermination of Mebudipine in Human Plasma by Liquid Chromatography–tandem Mass Spectrometry
In previous studies, mebudipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, showed a considerable potential to be used in cardiovascular diseases. The aim of the current study was to develop a valid method using reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography coupled with electrospray ionization mass spectrometry to assay mebudipine in the human plasma. Separation was achieved on a Zorbax...
